The Cuneiform Texts Resources - TCT - is the ultimate search engine for Assyriology. It comes as a remedy to a terrible gap in the cuneiform texts management. With TCT, you can locate parallels like "ur má-gur8 [any prefix]-dù" in few seconds, or locate complex text occurrences like "gù...dé(-a)". It opens unthinkable possibilities to you, thanks to the 10 search engines it uses internally for querying texts.
As you know, there are no ways to perform quick, useful searches for parallels or occurrences on cuneiform texts. The search engines you may find on very advanced and important sites - i.e. UCLA CDLI, Oxford ETCSL and Pennsylvania PSD - still lack the power needed to satisfy the complex needs of a Researcher or a diligent student. TCT fills this gap. It supports about 1.5 Millions of text lines, mainly from CDLI, ETCSL and Web PSD Text libraries.
The TCT search engine is used within an international project for the Iraq Museum's texts cataloguing and preservation, held by Prof. C. Saporetti of Pisa University for Italian Foreign Minister and Iraq Government.
Main Advantages This is what TCT can do for you: Locate complex occurrences: i.e. all the occurrences of "igi…bar" with the "-ši-" infix. Locate text parallels: i.e. all parallels of "ur má-gur8 [any prefix]+dù". Locate sign sequences on raw cuneiform texts: i.e. all the occurrences of the "du-du" signs. Locate names in the Parvus-Thesaurus, a small phonetic thesaurus that gets rid of writing variations: for example, you can search any occurrence of the Dumuzi name regardless if it is written "du5-mu-zid" or "dumu-zid". Easiness of use. This is guaranteed by its simple interface, similar to the Search Tool of the Resource Explorer of Microsoft® Windows® with classic interface.
